I don't recall ever pulling the 7' with the SC in 3rd, but we didn't have much for hills where we farmed. We may have been able to pull 3rd in corn stalks, but certainly not in plowed ground. I know stalks disked easier because I disked some stalks with a C and 7' JD pull disk, but it would not pull it after plowing... that was the very first tillage work I did as a kid. Had been begging Dad to let me do it and finally one evening while finishing up the milking, he said go ahead and hook the C up and when he was done, he'd get me started... big day in an 11 year old kids life :) .
Just going by the picture, that disk didn't look that much heavier, but I'm not going to doubt what you say.
