Bill, Not many of us have connections with the FBI and I'm sure they could bring the number back on your tag however, go to your local engraving shop and get a small container of etching solution. They use it to etch brass plates which turn the engraving black on fresh cut brass. Take a q-tip and dap it in the solution and then onto your plate in the area where the number was. It may appear and it may not depending on how hard it was blasted. The engine serial number is located on a raised flat area below #1 plug on the block. It will be close to the the tractor serial # but may not be the same. You may have to scrape off a few layers of grease, dirt, paint, etc to see it.//FB
