Is there 1 fert. hopper per row or does oooone hopper feed 2 rows? Is the hitch a single souare/rectangle tubing or is it stamped sheet metal/2 pieces bolted togather in a v-shape? Is it hyd.lift with the cylinder on the right side of the tube hitch and parelle to the hitch tube? Search for 449 or 449A pitchures on this site and see if you can find a picture to show us. Is the planter in his possesion and will he let you take a picture of it? Can you get a part number from the gear box or the frame and a illustration of the frame? You say you are familar with John Deere planters. Does it look more like a 490 deere or a 495 deere planter of that time? Armand
