Headlight 6 volt System 12 on 47 cub can i still use them

I have only had my 47 cub one week i have used the belly bush hog and also the turning plow.All working great but the headlights are not hooked up . They are 6 volt and it has been changed to 12 volt. Can they be used or will they blow.
