To be fair to the OP, you weren't leaking any IMPORTANT fluids.
Whatever the "odorless brown liquid" is, it has NOTHING to do with the operation of the exhaust lift. It's a pneumatic system (air powered), not hydraulic (oil powered).
It was one of two things:
1. Grease spooge, from old gun grease that had liquified/separated.
2. Rusty brown water from condensation.
Either one, has nothing to do with the proper operation of the lift.
