That's what I have heard. Every early 400s had drop centers or at 6 hole centers with double bevels.
Wouldn't there be a serial number break in the parts book? And then a sub/will work for?
Edit - Looks like they show both in the 400 parts book. 312 shows what appear to be drop center rims with 6 hole centers. Then page 314 shows 44" with 6 hole centers. THEN below that they have 38" double bevel rims with 8 hole centers.
On the super side...sorry for the hijack Colby, but we all know you like this just as much as we do. This was also the time when they got a brain and used keystock rather than cast keys in the clamp and hub.
