I think you turn it sideways to drain the excess out. I attempted to repair the one on my C about 10 years ago. After the repair it seized when I went in the house for a drink of water, antifreeze all over the place--lucky it didn't ruin the engine. Same thing happened on another C shortly after I bought it and all I did was change the antifreeze. Both got aftermarket ones with sealed bearings. I have a Super A that also has a sealed bearing one. My advice is not to mess with it, replace it, they are less than $100 and trouble free.
