Depends on how hot is hot. The pump is going to get hot. After all, it is connected to the engine and the engine gets too hot to touch. The action of pumping hydraulic fluid also builds heat.
The pump takes power to run, so any time you create pressure the governor is going to kick in and make the engine speed up a little.
If the engine doesn't sound labored when you're NOT running the hydraulics, everything is probably fine.
