I have a noise in the transmission on my H that only appears with the clutch pedal up. It is a whirring noise, kind of like a bearing is wearing out.
I have the transmission input shaft bearing carrier out and the pilot bearing off. Both bearings in the carrier feel good. The pilot bearing feels a little rough, the rollers look good, there is not much more radial and axial play than a new bearing, and the race inside the input shaft (transmission driving shaft pn 52945 DE )looks frosted.
I'm guessing the pilot bearing is bad.
Is the input shaft scrap too (I can't get a good close up photo) ? Should I just replace the input shaft along with the pilot bearing as a matter of course ?
