This is absolutely true, but some execution of the technology available is quite poorly done. Certain Fram spin on engine oil filters have been of questionable quality for many, many years. This includes many of those style of filters that Fram manufactures for others.

I wouldn't want a star-type element filter in my Farmall or the toilet paper roll filter in any of my vehicles today. I don't want a new Fram spin-on off the shelf, today, either.
