My 350D starts pretty good from the mid 20s up using the manifold air pre-heater on the first start of the day. After that it will start easy. Below 20 a block heater is the only way to go. I'm talking Fahrenheit.
Have you considered a one wire alternator? It's easy to convert a Delco to one wire, no external wiring at all, one large wire out and that's it. I have that set up on my Oliver 1850 and it's great. Do a google search and you will find lots of information on it. PK
