That's one of the reasons IH lost a lot of business in the 70's. They closed up a lot of the small dealers. That turned into longer drives'/time to get parts when needed and the farmers felt that IH betrayed them. IH did to make parts and machinery deliveries easyer for them and reduced the number of trucks and drivers needed. What made good sense on paper didn't work out so well in the long run when the farmers switched colors.
