Multi visc oils won't take the high temps that a straight weight will. To each his own though. A 30w has the same initial vicosity as a 15w40 oil. What do you gain with a 15w40 over a 30w? Oil companies really have sold us all a bill of goods with their marketing. When they couldn't sell light oils they sold us on the idea of multi visc oils. Harley Davison uses a 20w50. Imagine that a Harley engine has no trouble picking up a 20w oil at start up. A 20w is about the equivalent of a 40w. Piston aircraft engines use anywhere from a 30 w to a 60w, all straight weights. Go figure...LOL.
