I did much the same thing to a Mitsubishi Montera I once owned. The petcock even had a sort of snap-in-place closed setting to keep it from accidentally coming open on the road. Had a nice long(1/2") tube on the end to slip a hose over. Bought that petcock from some aftermarket mail deal for an exorbitant price, but sure saved burned fingers.
