Yes, your right in that the wide front is lower and if the corn is getting too tall there will be corn damage... but back in the '50s farmers were not too worried about cuting a few corn roots by cultivating or a little damage to the tall corn.. just go a little slower in tall corn so the wide front does not wip-lash the tall corn.. ...in my mind I can still remember watching the tall corn being swept under that wide front.. ..but I was told to "get-it done" so I just kept going..
