I'm sure when IH built the letter and number series Wheatland tractors, they never in a million years figured farmers would be planting in 30" rows.
Dad bought a "new" planter this year, a JD7000 set for 30" rows. He does his own spraying with a 3pt sprayer, but none of the "front line" tractors is set for 30" rows. Too much work to narrow one down just to spray 50 acres of corn, and he doesn't want to leave it that narrow all year.
Long story short, turns out the W-400's tread width is dead-nuts on for 30" rows. The sprayer has now grown a set of wheels.
