Frank, The original rims were galvanized. Use any paint that you like such as the aluminum silver, argent silver or even a hammertone gray. I would thoroughly clean the rim inside and out and use a primer that is compatible with the paint you will use, ie. don't use an enamel primer under lacquer. Definitely paint the inside of the rims to help keep them from rusting, even if your tires won't have fluid in them. Moisture will accumulate in there and cause rust. My 2¢, Phil
