The IH gauge is probably OK. Boiling water is 212 degrees F which should be well within the run range. Most heat gauges say HOT over 250 degrees. Water cannot be boiled any hotter unless it is put under pressure. I'm not sure what is in the tube, but there is some sort of gas or liquid that make them work. Good luck!
