Positive ground from the factory. Put it together the way the cables are organized (terminal size) or if it is negative ground and you want it to be as delivered new, reverse the leads (and terminals so they fit), then before starting, jump between Bat and Gen on the regulator to polarize the generator. Jump with a solid copper wire, and expect it to spark a little. Hold no more than one second. Jim
