The original seal was very thick and made of leather. The new seals are about 1/3 the thickness of the original, but are made of a material that is far superior. Because the new seals are so much thinner, lots of folks think they need to install 2 seals instead of just one, but that is not necessary. ONE new seal is sufficient.
I'm guessing that a previous owner subscribed to the 2 seal myth.
