The first diagnosis step is to determine if it is getting spark. Pull the center wire out of the distributor cap, and place it (tape is handy) so that it is 1/4" away from the block. Crank the engine watching for spark. it should be bright and Blue, not yellow or thready. If no spark, check the condition of the contact points. They can be cleaned and polished with 320 grit paper, then cleaned with a folded dollar bill. Set them on the high point of the distributor cam at .020" Jim
