Remove all the sparkplugs and hold your thumb over No1 sparkplug hole near the radiator. Have a helper to slowly crank over the engine slowly until you feel pressure against your thumb. Once you feel pressure drop a long plastic straw on top of No1 piston. Then you watch the straw rise while your helper keeps slowly cranking the engine. When the straw quits rising remove the distributor cap. If the rotor isn't pointing to the No1 plug tower that's near 1 o'clock you need to pull the distributor and rotate the rotor and turn it so it's at the No1 plug tower. When you install the cap the rotor should be at the No1 plug wire. Remove the straw and install the sparkplugs. Make sure your plug wires are in this firing order on the cap: 2-1 4-3 as the rotor rotates CW. Each plug wire needs to go to the corresponding sparkplug in the firing order. No1 plug wire to the sparkplug near the radiator, No3 to the third plug from the radiator, No4 to the last plug and No2 wire. Then see if the engine will start. Hal Note: Whenever you pull a distributor or a mag make a note even a sketch is better where the rotor is pointing. Then DON'T MOVE THE ENGINE after the mag or distributor is removed.
