We always used "iron" pipe fittings for hydraulics, both pressure and return, since I was a kid.
With these Chinese fittings though, I don't trust them. There is definitely less material there and they just feel cheap.
Instead, I use cheap Chinese hydraulic fittings for pressure these days. They may not be as good as the USA-made fittings from 20 years ago, but at least they're meant for hydraulics.
