A minimum 1/2hp (3/4" is better) Gast or Thomas vane compressor or vacuum pump will supply an air fed helmet. They can be had cheap on eBay.
Alot more expensive is a good helmet. I used to run enough air into my helmet so that it nearly floated off my head. There was no chance of a foggy interior or dust migration into the helmet. It probably consumed more than 25 CFM. I was a professional SB contractor using the entire output of a 750 CFM screw compressor for one operator.
