The first Farmall A tractors had a tab on the side of the magneto that you pushed in to ground the magneto. You had to stand alongside the front of the tractor to do this. (very like a lot of the small rotary hoes etc. where you pressed a tab down on the spark plug to stop them (hoping you pressed the tab not the plug)). This was then replaced with a Bowden cable operated tab (worked the same way except it could be done from the seat). The final version was the electrical grounding cable from the magneto switch as fitted to the larger tractors.
