As a matter of interest, are most of these machines fitted with coil ignition? All my tractors have magneto ignition, so I don't have the slightest desire to change over to 12 volts. I usually crank start them anyway and only use the starter motor if the tractor is being stubborn and won't start by hand. In the case of the Farmall M, this generally occurs when it starts, runs for three or four seconds and then cuts out. After that, either I have to use electric start or wait fifteen minutes, return and begin again. Happily this is a rare occurence.
