You must be a shy fella, right? I've been known to pick things up at garage sales and walk right behind the sellers table and plug it in. Same at auctions...carry it over to the house or barn and find an outlet. In this case I would fuss about the price and see if I could get them down some because I guarantee you they want it the heck out of there. Before I gave them the $150 I would plug it in. If it works you have a deal.
I have not seen one at auction here in a while but the ones I used to see went over $200 untested. Definitely worth a second look.
