Pete - Look for a slotted-head screw on the generator's back (commutator end) cover near the bearing. It will be the 3rd brush holder clamp screw.
To adjust the 3rd brush, first remove the commutator dust band. Next loosen the 3rd brush screw a couple turns. Now move the 3rd brush toward the nearest fixed brush (the closer the 3rd is to the fixed the higher the generator output). Finally retighten the clamp screw and replace the dust band.

Note: If your H came from the factory with a voltage regulator (I believe the H did in '52) the generator MAY have a fixed (non-adjustable) 3rd brush. In that case there is nothing you can do to increase the output.
However a low voltage condition could be from other things like a slipping generator belt or a faulty regulator. (A good working generator/regulator will develop 8 volts at governed RPM)
