Fire Hazard?

My recently purchased 1955 IH300 Utility comes with an underslung muffler. Any experience of fire danger using it for brush cutting or otherwise working in the pasture? It has been extremely dry around here and I'm wondering if I should consider re-routing the exhaust out the side. Any comments or help on this one?
