As others have mentioned, they were a good ole" horse. They were designed for heavier field work back in the day. The transmission leaves plenty of gaps when compared to the 10"s and 14"s of the same era. The cab had some drawbacks, but once you were in it, they were pretty quiet and comfortable. We have had IH tractors since the 1960"s and never once did we replace a TA. We used them but we never treated them as a road brake. Guess we were fortunate.
