I will say it is a poor design in every way. The open hole is pretty bogus, the open chamber with a shaft running through it, is OK, but there is no provision to deal well with lube. The bushing should have been a sealed ball bearing with a Zerk fitting and port directly to it. and a waste grease port out the bottom. Maintenance in the book would state lube annually. (if over lubed it would just squirt out the bottom.) But they do last 30 to 50 years the way they are! Jim
