This is only a guess, but you might try to set the cold clearance at about .020 then warm the engine and readjust to .014. Rule of thumb would be too loose instead of too thight. Good luck. Let us know what works. I am going to be rebuilding my A soon, and will need to do the same thing for the fresh engine.
