3 pt hydraulic ram problem

OK...As I was going through the hydraulics on my Super H with an add on 3pt conversion, I ran across a puzzling problem (to me anyway). The hydraulics go up fine, but as they are going up, hydraulic fluid is being vented from the ram. It does not appear to be leaking from the piston seals but from the underside of the ram. I have not looked at it carefully, but I think there is a hole at about the midpoint of the ram. My first thought was that it is an overpressure relief, but if so, It must be worn out because there was no weight on the hitch. Any ideas about what is going on here? Also, can the Super H be rigged for double acting hydraulics and if so, how? Any help is apprecited...BB
