your initial post did not make it clear whether you had a IH pump ahead of the distributor or a self-contained belt-driven PS pump. If the later and if the pump and reservoir are one unit, you only need two hoses. One is high pressure and the other is low pressure.
If you are working with an IH distributor pump, you do not need the Christmas Tree valve unless you want two-way remote hydraulics. The priority valve does not require it.
New priority valves look different than the old units. Stiener's has the new valves and have posted a plumbing diagram on their website. Not sure, but I don't think that the new ones have a pressure relief feature but they are suitable for old tractors. They can be installed with confidence but I have never bought one.
