Gene, I set the carb linkage as I was taught to: disconnect the governor arm from the carb linkage. Push the governor [throttle] linkage full open. Hold the governor and carb linkage in full open and adjust the turn-buckle on the carb linkage until the two pin holes are in line. On the throttle slop: On the hand lever it is dead from idle until about half-way before the engine responds to the throttle increase. And then it is not a slow increase. It basically will jump from idle to half throttle. I believe it is getting a little worn. I've been around this tractor all my life, and it has always had slop in about a quarter of the throttle lever, which my grandfather told me was about right. I do know that I can take up the play by adding either shims or a longer collar at the end of the throttle rod where it connects to the governor on the mag side. But, will this effect my top end speed?
