I'm not a mechanic either, but I get better each time I work on something and a huge percentage of what I know I learned or fine tuned right here on this forum and, because I have one, on the "N" board. Other than an occasional video, like the SMTA torque amplifier repair one TSC had a few years back, I don't know of a lot of resources other than the manuals. So what I do when I get into a new area is read the manual and research old and current threads here. Then I do what I know to do and when I get to something that puzzles me I ask. Generally you get an answer within the hour. This forum is a darn good one. Take all the answers and come up with a solution and keep moving forward. Keep a camera handy in case the guys need a visual. I spent a week on my first axle disassembly on the 2N but that was mostly trying to get my mind around "preload" and "shims". I got it done and could do it again without trouble.
Parts should all be available from the dealer. Use your jack and stands and as much cribbing as you need to stabilize the tractor.
Parts manuals are great to use along with the service manual.
