You can only remove the seal, not the bolted plate. Removing the plate will destroy the pinion carrier, it will not come out. Just pry out the seal. New seals will likely be thinner. Put them in so they do not rub in the groove of the old seal. Pack the back side with chassis grease to assure it is lubed. Some times people put in two seals per side. That also works if grease is put between them. Jim
