Bad news is that I don't know the guys name. If you contact the Chapter president, he may be able to help. I think the seller was the second or third vendor along the disheveled stone wall that separates the vendors from the field of tractors. He would have been within 60' of the Chapter tent/headquarters.
As for two gears engaging in the Cub transmission, I don't think that is a common failure mode on a Cub. It is quite common on the H and M and similar. But Jim is correct. It should be investigated first.
