There are studs holding the manifold to the block. Are you sure that they are rusted, or just cruddy? The nuts on mine are brass, presumably to limit corrosion. A couple of them are in very difficult to reach spots that neither a socket set nor a wrench easily removes them. But, I guess you know that. However, with plain ole persistence, they came out. Nothing fancy required, but lots of small movement, oil, small movement, oil etc. I started while I was still driving the tractor. Each time I stopped the engine I would squirt some oil onto the manifold stud nuts. Hard to tell if it helped though since it was so hot. I'm not sure there is an easy solution. For oil, I prefer Kroil, from Kano labs (kanolabs.com). Also, be very careful when the manifold begins to become free. I dropped my manifold while cleaning it and it broke in half. btw, new ones are available if you follow my lead. Not sure if I am going to replace mine or have it welded.
