Had the same trouble a couple of months ago when the pto would stop turning when I put pressure on it by lifting the loader. Thought it was shot so I took it to the dealer and it turned out that the adjustment nut on the shaft that goes into the top of the pto and attaches to the on/off lever had backed off so far over the years that the pto was not fully engaging. They tightened the nut and now it works better than when I bought it. Might not be your problem but I would check it first before doing anything drastic. There is also a place on the pto that you can hook up a pressure guage to see what kind of pressure you have from your pto pump. Mine showed zero because the pump wasn't engaging when I threw the lever. I'm no mechanic or I should have probably known that. Cost me $120 to find out but that's a lot cheaper than the $800 they quoted me for overhauling the pto.
