Been there - done that...it's a heartbreaker for sure. But before you trash the float bowl, see if you can repair the crack with JB Weld or similar. So long as the crack doesn't penetrate a drilled fuel or air passage, you may be able fix it.

Clean the part up REAL good with chlorinated solvent (perchlorethylene) or caustic cleaner to remove every trace of grease, varnish, etc. Dry thoroughly, apply the resin, then let it cure for a day or so before reassembling. I did one about 10 years ago - a Tillotson carb on an antique Evinrude. It's still holding strong and the carb works fine.
