Front axle Bushings

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the front bushings on the spindles on their tractor recently. I have a 140, and there is a lot of play in the spindles (up and down &side to side). Do you have to machine them to fit..like king pins on old trucks and cars..?? OR do you just replace the old with the new...please help...
