Although it is a New Holland label, I also think it's a regional term applied to pull type swathers. My dad in Iowa always called his swather (a New Idea brand) a haybine, but I never heard them called that here in Kansas... they were always just a "pull type swather". Of course Hesston was always a big seller here, and now when you drive through the town of Hesston, you see their equipment with several colors and brand names on them being loaded on trucks.
