The two IH 574s that I own as well as my neighbors all have vertical mufflers. The exhaust manifold exits through the hood with the aid of a pipe nipple (about 10 inches long and threaded on one end only) screwed into the manifold. The muffler slip fits on the nipple. The muffler remains removable from the nipple to faciltate removal of the hood to service the engine. No brackets or elbows are used. One of the tractors has a loader mounted also.
