Dan: I didn't see anyone mention charging the acid untill it's at the "specific gravity" called for. They sell those cheap testers at many auto parts stores. This is better than talking volts and amps? I use a 6 volt charger bought at a garage sale for $2 that has poor regulation and will put out more than 6 volts. It is a confusing topic at times but if the acid gets fully charged you will be in good shape in any 6 -8 -12 volt battery? Don't over cook a 6 or 8 with a 12volt charger. That can be bad news.
