My Allis Chalmers 180 has two 12V Group 31 batteries, each rated at 1100 CA. That is 2200 CA in parallel. I have yet to see two 6V batteries that can compare and fit into a stock battery box. 40 years ago two 6's were superior.
In many redundant power systems and solar storage systems, 6V and 8V DEEP CYCLE batteries can out perform the same size 12V batteries. More lead = more capacity.
