yes it needs to be primed. first make sure the fuel level in the tank is above the fuel filters. then open petcock on water trap and bleed.then open bleeder on aux.filter, one closest to tank and bleed. then start on gas and bleed final filter . then bleed injectors. then can switch to diesel and go. no such animal as wd4 from factory. and yes it has a decompression lever for the gas side. all gas start diesels use the same procedure for starting.
