Find the date code on the center housing with the 46 serial # plate, if 46 or 45 the serial number probably belongs on that housing. If the engine serial # is the same as clutch housing tag. Somebody probably had rear trouble and replaced complete less top cover. If engine serial is a 39 or 40 model who knows what or why now? On the one with J date codes the engine serial # is the same as tractor serial # if engine is original. Most H parts books say in the introduction pages that H chassis and engine serial numbers are the same. Don't have time to look up contact information at this time, but a place in the Morgantown WV area has a good reputation for a replacement serial plate.
