Bolster bushings

Just finished replacing front bolster bushings on my "H" with catastrophic results. After installing the upper, proceeded to install the lower, but wouldn't go. Then took the pivot shaft and stuck up through the assembly, thinking the lands on the pivot shaft would serve to drive it up with assistance of a hydraulic jack under it. Unfortunately, tractor began lifting up off the cribbing supporting front end. Upper bushing was ruined by the keyways on top of pivot shaft. Lower bushing seized and had to cut it out. Now I have it all over to do again. Would lubricating the new bushings be helpful, or dry ice to shrink them be an advantage. Any you old timers got a solution for me? Tom A.
