I had the same problem with my 1256.A little rubber deal inside the pump started to disintegrate(age) and plug up the pump.When the engine quit,the particles fell away and the engine would restart.Remove the punp timing port and see if there is little bits of rubber in there.if so-that is your problem.It cost me less than $200 to have it repaired.You will have to pull the pump.
